Desperate For Vision

Do you feel like there’s more? Have you lost sight of your vision? Has your routine become stagnant and your vision blurred? Are you ready for clear vision despite the obstacles? Are you ready to see again – desperate for vision? Clarity is closer than you think.

The Story: Mark 11:46-52

In Mark 11:46-52, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, sat on the side of the road which was his custom. He heard that Jesus was passing by and began to cry out. As a result, people rebuked the beggar by urging him to quiet down. However, the man was desperate so he refused to silence himself. Eventually, Jesus heard him and bid him to come. The surrounding people relayed the message to the man. Immediately, he removed his coat, jumped up, and went to Jesus. Upon his arrival, Jesus inquired, “what do you want me to do for you?” The beggar responded that he wanted to regain his sight. Without hesitation, Jesus told him to leave because his faith made him well. Instead of leaving, the former blind beggar followed Jesus.

The Lesson

From the former blind beggar, we discover that there’s a process when we’re desperate for vision.

  1. The blind beggar heard Jesus was coming and had to act. When the appointed time is near, we must be ready to act. We can no longer wait and procrastinate. The season of sitting quietly is over.
  2. The blind beggar ignored the crowd. Although we want a crowd of supporters, the vision is within us. The well-intentioned around us don’t always understand our quest for vision. They want us to play things safe and keep the routine. However, vision yearns to come out and we can silence it no longer.
  3. The blind beggar left his cloak. The time is now to leave behind those things that no longer serve us. The attitudes and behaviors were helpful in our state of sitting. However, they’re useless on our quest for regained vision. The weight of before is a hindrance today.
  4. He immediately responded to the call of Jesus. When the moment arrives, it’s time to act. Rise up and move. Swift movement and a ready response are required. Now is not the time to formulate the ideas and construct the blueprint. Action is now. With clarity of thought and soundness of mind, we make our request known.
  5. Jesus restored his sight. Because we didn’t delay, we’re ready to receive help for vision restoration. With clear vision, we can move without blockages. There’s nothing preventing our progress because we can see clearly now.
  6. The man followed Jesus. We can’t forget those who helped along the way. With restored vision, we can’t act as though we arrived on our own.

Regain your vision for purpose awaits!
