Are you praying for something? Wondering when will the answer come? Does anyone hear you? In the midst of waiting, do you remember a time when you prayed and He answered? Surely, the answer is yes. If God answered then, He will answer now. Don’t lose heart or hope.
The Story: Genesis 15:1-6
In Genesis 15:1-6, God told Abram that he shouldn’t fear because God was his shield. Also, a great reward was on the way. This proclamation puzzled Abram and he brought his concern to God. He inquired about what the reward could be since he had no children. In his mind, any reward he had would go to his servant. However, God had other plans.
God informed Abram that a child would come from his own body. In addition, his descendants would outnumber the stars in the sky. Because of God’s words, Abram believed and it was credited to him as righteousness.
The Lesson
Abram is only one of many who sought the Lord and He answered. For some, the answer came quickly. While for people like Abram, the answer took some time. Regardless of the passage of time, someone prayed and He answered. So we are no different.
Matthew 7:7-11 coupled with Genesis 15:1-6 gives us truths regarding our requests.
- A.S.K. – Ask, Seek, Knock. We have to make our requests known. If we don’t a.s.k., there can be no answer to the question. Therefore, A.S.K. is the avenue to the answer.
- Guaranteed Answer – God will respond. However, His response may not be our response. He doesn’t think or act like us (Isaiah 55:8-9). Although His answer can range from yes, no, to not yet. He always answers.
- Faith seals the deal – Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is hope. Do we have faith that He will answer? What are our expectations? Are we looking for a cosigner on our desires and plans? Do we want what He wants for us? Abram’s faith was credited to him as doing right. What’s our faith saying?
Therefore, keep the faith. Make the requests known and believe that He will answer. God may not come like we want, but He will come.
