1 Kings — Chapter 5 (BSB)

In 1 Kings 5, Solomon begins the monumental work of preparing to build the Temple in Jerusalem. The way you carry yourself in work, leadership, and relationship can cause others to acknowledge God's goodness. Your faithfulness has a witness that reaches further than you may realize.

"And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty."
The peace and agreement between Solomon and Hiram is directly tied to the wisdom God had given Solomon — wisdom produces shalom. When you seek God's wisdom in your relationships and decisions, it has a ripple effect that brings peace and opens doors rather than closing them. God's wisdom is not just for your inner life; it shapes every interaction and partnership you are part of.

"And the king commanded them to quarry large, costly stones to lay the foundation of the temple with dressed stones."
The foundation of the Temple demanded the most costly and carefully prepared stones — nothing was rushed or done carelessly at the base of what would become God's house. This is a picture of what it means to do foundational spiritual work in your own life: it is costly, patient, and done with care. The unseen work you do in prayer, Scripture, and character formation is the quarrying of stones that will support everything God wants to build through you.

Lord, thank You for the seasons of rest and peace You give me — help me not to waste them but to see them as Your invitation to build something that matters for Your glory.
