Haman's joy turns instantly to rage because one man refuses to stroke his pride, revealing how fragile and hollow a life built on the approval of others truly is. This is a sobering mirror for your own heart — when someone's lack of recognition or respect unsettles your peace, it may be worth asking who or what you are living for. "His wife Zeresh and all his friends told him, “Have them build a gallows fifty cubits high, and ask the king in the morning to have Mordecai hanged on it. Then go to the banquet with the king and enjoy yourself.” The advice pleased Haman, and he had the gallows constructed."
Haman's pride leads him down a path of destruction that he cannot yet see, as his own plan will ultimately become the instrument of his ruin.
