Have you ever planned an event like a wedding or a party? You selected the color scheme, table design, decorations, and the menu. When you thought of the event, you knew the specific location that would highlight the affair. You even ordered specific invitations that fit the theme. For you, everything had to be perfect. There was no detail that didn’t matter. Just as you are precise about the details of your event, God’s equally involved in every detail about you.
The Story: 1 Kings 7
In 1 Kings 7, King Solomon designed and built his home along with the Temple of the Lord. He knew the expected majesty of each location and ensured a quality craftsman participated in the erection of the buildings. No detail was left to chance as the measurements were as precise as the gold, bronze, and stone. Upon completion of the building, King Solomon added the dedicated items from King David.
Lesson
If King Solomon could take such care in the construction of buildings, how much more is God concerned about the details in your life? Often, we think that certain matters are unimportant. Like what does it matter about where we work or live? We haphazardly choose a job based on pay and location. We mistake the importance of the details as pure happenstance. As for God, He has a specific place for you. You wondered why you didn’t get the job, but God knew that wasn’t the right one. You saw the salary but God knew the toxic environment wasn’t the right place to build and mold you into His plan for your life.
Your place of employment isn’t God’s only concern. Before you were born, God knew you (Jeremiah 1:5). Psalm 139:16 remarks that your book of life was written before your eyes were even formed. Ephesians 1:4 recounts that God chose you from the foundation of the world. Every detail about you was in the mind of God (Psalm 139:13). No detail was too small or overlooked. Amazingly, God even numbered the hairs on your head (Luke 12:7).
The God, who planned and manifested every detail of your existence, is the same God, who reserved “it’s very good” until after making man on the sixth day. If God didn’t believe the earth was complete until after your existence, who are you to dislike and judge yourself? You critique and criticize your frame, voice, and everything in between. If only “this” was smaller, larger, longer, or a host of other adjectives, then what? Despite the world’s unrealistic version of body image, take a moment to pause and reflect on the fact that you’re made in the image of God. No external enhancement can outdo the amazing work of God. Therefore, bask in every seeming imperfection and appreciate the beauty that is YOU!
