Have you felt forgotten? Has life seemed like things were happening for everyone but you? Have you been limping over losses? Were you dropped and left for dead? Do you have a dream that you started but dropped along the way because of a crisis or some emergency? You and your dream may be injured but you’re not forgotten.
The Story: 2 Samuel 9
In 2 Samuel 9, we read about Mephibosheth. This young man was the son of Jonathan and he was lame. His disability was the result of his nurse dropping him after she heard of Jonathan’s death. Despite his injury, he lived his life and grew into a healthy young man. After the death of Saul and Jonathan, the house dispersed and everyone went their own way. The house of Saul and Jonathan appears forgotten without any significance coming from that family again. But no so.
David remembered his best friend, Jonathan. He inquired of his inner circle if anyone remained in the house of Jonathan. They didn’t know, but they knew a former servant would know. David’s company contacted Ziba, who advised that Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth, was alive.
Mephibosheth came to King David, who elevated his status. He moved from being a guest in someone’s home to full restoration with everything that belonged to his family. Although he saw himself as a dog, now he would want for nothing. David ensured that Mephibosheth’s well would never run dry. He would perpetually receive care. As a result, Ziba and his family would always cultivate the land so he would have food to eat and he would eat at David’s table continually. Double despite injury.
The Lesson
Who or what is Mephibosheth in your life? What has been injured and seemingly forgotten? Take an assessment. No matter who or what it is, resurrection time has come.
We laid aside our dreams because life keep life-ing. We believef we’re lost and alone because people forsook us. We felt like a dog because no one wanted us in our current condition. The devil is a whole lie!
God, who began a good work in us, is going to finish it (Philippians 1:6). God is working behind the scenes, touching the hearts of destiny helpers to bring about His plan for us. We aid in the process by showing up and not giving up. Like Mephibosheth, we have to be willing to step out of the place where we were and go to the place where God will feed us.
Reignite the dream. Awaken from your slumber. There are people in need of what you have and waiting to hear your voice. So the table has been spread and a feast is going on. The one thing missing is YOU!
