In life, we face many options and opportunities. We weigh the pros and cons. We consider every possibility. With each passing day, we wonder what to do. Stop mulling things over. Just need to start.
The Story: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, we find a list of opposites based on time. The list confirms that there’s a time and season for everything. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reveals that the coming list isn’t an exhaustive one but a brief synopsis of events and experiences with time.
The Lesson
John F Kennedy once said, “we must see time as a tool and not as a couch.” When we combine the words of Ecclesiastes 3 and John F. Kennedy, we realize the value of time. We understand the need to wisely spend the 24 hours we’ve been given. As a matter of fact, there’s not a recycle of 24 hours. Each new day brings a new 24 for the old 24 have passed away. So what will we do with the new 24?
How we spend our 24 hours matters. Are we doing things that bring us closer to purpose? Or do we allow the couch to take our hours? If we looked back over the past six months, what story would those month tell? Will it reflect time well spent or one fully wasted? Only we know the answer. Therefore, we need to consider what we’re doing with each 24 hours.
The way we spend our time is a personal matter. No one can tell us if we’re making the most of our days. Of course, we can look at people and compare their time with ours; however, our paths aren’t the same. So instead of looking across, look up. Furthermore, only God knows what He planned for us and the path we should take.
As a result, the clock is ticking and it’s go time. We’ve rested long enough. Activate your dreams and purpose. No more waiting to write the book or start a business. Therefore, bid the couch goodbye and let’s go.
