Psalm 63:3-5

Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer also known as S.O.A.P. is a way of studying scripture. These entries will provide a quick overview of scripture and offer a mechanism for studying the Word and prayer.

Scripture:

“Because Your love is better than life, my lips will glorify You. I will praise You as long as I live, and in Your name, I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of floods; with singing lips will my mouth praise You.”

Observation:

  1. “I will” is prevalent throughout the passage. Everything in the verse is something I choose to do. I acknowledge who God is and I decide to do these things to honor Him.
  2. There’s no way to determine from the passage what’s going on in David’s life because his focus is first on God. As a result, the end of the passage speaks with confidence that his enemies will be destroyed.

Application:

Despite what I’m going through, my focus must be on God. I can choose to worry about life or I can praise God. After I praise God, I can confidently speak over my situation.

Prayer:

Lord, I praise You. You are high and lifted up. You are an amazing God. I thank You for the open doors and even the closed ones. There’s no God like You. Every crooked path is made straight because You are God alone. In Jesus name, Amen.
