Can you feel it? Do you hear it? The sound of change is lightly ringing. Your whole being knows there’s more and can sense it. Something is about to happen. Are you right here for it?
The Story: Acts 9:1-20
In Acts 9:1-20, Saul was on a mission to persecute and kill the disciples of God. Anyone who taught or preached Jesus was on his list. He even requested permission from the authorities in Damascus to persecute the followers of Jesus there. On his way to Damascus, a light from heaven showed on him and he fell to the ground.
From heaven, a voice inquired about why Saul was persecuting him. Saul asked who the voice was. The response was “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” In addition, Jesus told him to get up, go to the city, and wait for further instructions. When Saul stood up, his eyes were open, but he couldn’t see. Those who were with him brought Saul to Damascus.
At the same time, Ananais had a vision, whereby God told him to go see Saul and lay hands on him to restore his sight. Ananias knew of Saul’s reputation and inquired of the Lord. God told him that it was safe for him to go because Saul would be aware of what he would suffer in the name of Jesus. Therefore, Ananias did as God commanded and Saul’s sight was restored. From then on, Saul proclaimed Jesus as the Son of God.
The Lesson
Saul, better known as Paul, is the epitome of being right here for it. In his Saul days, he persecuted like none other. As Paul, he preached Jesus with the best of them. He committed to the path set before him. What about us?
In a song by Lamboginny, “God’s Not Done,” the singer proclaims, “God’s not done with me. No, God’s not done with me. He’s just getting started and I’m right here for it.” As we embark on our next or a new year, these lines become our mantra. We take the stance of Paul that no matter what comes, we’re here. We will pursue dreams, overcome obstacles, and remain. Therefore, we will start and finish the assignment. If God said it, the matter is settled.
Therefore, we must take an assessment of where we are. Determine if we have everything we need for the work ahead (Luke 14:28). Remove the negativity for they will only hold us back. Gather the supporters and accountability partners. Now, it’s time to hit the road. With full strength, the time has come to complete the assignment ahead.
Now, we’re ready. With Jesus on our side, we’re right here for it.
