In their cruelty, the brothers unknowingly echoed a question that God Himself would answer: what would become of Joseph's dreams? Their attempt to destroy Joseph's future only set it in motion. "So when the Midianite traders passed by, his brothers pulled Joseph out of the pit and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt."
What looked like total abandonment was actually the road God had prepared for Joseph's destiny. Being sold into slavery was the very path that would eventually lead Joseph to a position where he could save countless lives, including those of his own brothers. This week, take an honest inventory of your relationships and ask God to reveal any jealousy, bitterness, or resentment you may have allowed to take root. Confess it specifically to God in prayer and ask Him to replace it with genuine love and thankfulness for what He has given you.
Write down one dream, calling, or promise you believe God has spoken over your life — and then write a short prayer surrendering the timeline and the outcome to Him. Place it somewhere you will see it daily as a reminder that God is faithful to complete what He begins.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for the life of Joseph and the reminder that You are sovereign over every painful, confusing, and broken moment of my story. Search my heart and reveal any jealousy, bitterness, or resentment I have allowed to grow, and give me the courage to lay it all at Your feet. Help me to trust You with the dreams and callings You have placed in my heart, even when circumstances make them seem impossible or forgotten.
